The Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation organized, the day before yesterday, an art concert entitled “A Baghdad night with the flowering kubbah”, during which the voices of the Iraqi maqam reciter echoed and recalled the sweet legacies that were repeated by the audience with the Iraqi maqam reader Taha Gharib, who plays the traditional walnut instrument. Specialists consider him an extension of the Kabanji school in the way he performed Iraqi shrines, and he was accompanied by Shakir Hassan on the Oud, Omar Ziyad on the law machine, Siraj Muhammad on the drum, Riyad Mohsen on parchment, and Muhannad Khidr on the piano.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Al-Mutawa and Dr. Fatima Al-Sayegh, members of the Board of Trustees, and a large crowd of lovers of authentic singing filled them with the theater of the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation, where hundreds of lovers of originality attended and chanted for 90 minutes, songs stuck in their memories that extend over a geographical area that exceeds the limits. The concert’s segments were divided into musical compositions and a singing group with Shaker Hassan and an Iraqi maqam with Taha Gharib, and then the band dedicated a special segment to singing with the audience, as the last pages of the concert booklet carried the words of some songs that the audience sang with the band. Azhar Kubba began his first study of music in Baghdad at the age of six, and he studied at the hands of experts in the dancer at the School of Music and Ballet. He also studied at the hands of the most talented professors of music and the Iraqi maqam, including Munir Bashir, Rouhi Al-Khamash and Hussein Al-Adhami, at the Institute of Musical Studies in 1986, and participated as a musician Al-Santoor with the Iraqi Symphony Orchestra, and in 2011 he founded the Iraqi Taqasim Ensemble in the Emirates to spread the Iraqi musical heritage.
